About Tai Chi Ray
Raymond Li, NASM-CPT, NASM-SFS, M.A., CFA, an Investment Banker-turned-Tai Chi teacher committed to enriching the lives of New Yorkers with this ancient mind-body practice. He is a multilingual and multicultural scholar, and practitioner of martial arts, sharing their ancient origins while demystifying them in the context of contemporary developments in science and technology. Born into a family that has practiced Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for more than five generations, Ray has been practicing martial arts since the age of seven.
Founder of Manhattan Tai Chi school and Tai Chi Ray’s Well-Being Community, he seeks to restore your well-being in this time of increasingly sedentary and isolated lifestyle. He offers an enjoyable and practical Tai Chi and Qigong learning experience tailored to New Yorkers, regardless of age or fitness level. His clients greatly appreciate his organic assimilation of Western anatomical and biomechanical knowledge, Chinese medicine, Eastern philosophical ideas and practice, and healing. His teaching style is mindful, practical, knowledgeable, and holistic. Currently, Ray is working on obtaining the title of Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) issued by NASM. In addition to his lifelong study of Tai Chi, he earned a Master of Arts in International Politics and Business at New York University and is a devoted Soto Zen practitioner. Moreover, he was a distinguished recipient of the Hospice Care Outstanding Volunteer Service Award at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY) in 2016. Regarding his social work, he was interviewed by several media outlets, such as HuffPost, ASPCA, and so on.
