近日的纽约阴晴不定,一时夏日炎炎,一时又潮湿闷热。
已是入伏,七堂在此邀各位好友,于7月15日晚6点共赴七堂清夏雅集,
听琴品茶,以此消夏。
室内设草编坐席,辅以清凉简单陈设,
斗室之中,与琴人相对而坐,近听丝与木、弦与指的交响。
纽约各派琴人难得云集,已许久未曾有这般的规模。
雅集纯以古琴为主,形式上也追慕传统古琴雅集,
七名琴人各携所好琴曲,就琴意曲意深究浅述,且叙且弹。
曲寄良夜清宵散淡适意,曲调短小,讲究起承转合之间神气清闲充和。
夜悬明镜青天上,独照长门宫里人,曲寄汉宫秋怨,长门深锁,声婉转而意凄清。
传为周文王所作,追太古之淳风,谓不治而不乱,鸡犬之声相闻,民至老死不相往来。
曲状鸿雁飞栖于江汀,曲调回环往来,绵密静美,借鸿鹄之远志,写逸士之心胸。
曲抒荡迹山林闲适疏放的幽趣,山林幽涧一派碧绿,流泉声泠泠切切,溪谷回响。
又名《悉昙章》,曲由佛教唱诵而来,以宏伟庄严见长,多拟钟鼓和鸣、经咒念诵声。
为现存中国最早见乐谱之曲,曲调晦涩高深,状空谷幽兰生于怪石之间,高古玄妙。
In this 7s-Art exclusive event, we are collaborating with our artist to bring you a sensational fest of Chinese fine arts. Performances including guqin, xiao, pipa, kunqu, ikebana, Chinese calligraphy and dancing.
7s Art is delighted to invite you to a special arranged Yaji featuring stories behind Dunhuang painting, a collection of 492 grottoes adorned with Buddhist statuary and frescoes. There will also be guqin and incense performances.
Want to learn how ancient Chinese celebrate mid-autumn festival? How about their artistic opinions regarding night wondering? Then come and join us for this remarkable gathering at the very night of mid-suatumn festival.
Come join us for a special themed yaji as we try to restore the scenes of literati's gathering in the style of ancient scholars. Guqin, chinese painting and tea, you cannot ask more in such a single event!
Come join us together to travel back in time in a restored ancient way and get inspired by the ‘hermit spirit’ with Chinese ink paintings, Guqin music and Chinese tea.

Yes, the title says it all. Come and enjoy a guqin focused concert with various guqin artists performing great pieces. And of course, it would not be complete without our tea.
We have arranged a Yaji (elegant gathering with tea ceremony, Guqin and other traditional Chinese music) on June 4th in Williston Park in Long island NY.
You will have an unique experience of enjoying Guqin music and Tea Ceremony in a casual and relaxed setting.

All attendees will be seated on the floor. We will provide Cattail Hassock (a traditional Chinese rush cushion, also called Zafu) for your comfort. Casul wear is highly recommended.
We will host another Elegant Gathering on the following day on May 29th, at the same time and the same location.
The beauty and elegance of Chinese refined lifestyle will be shared with another amazing traditional Chinese musical intrument -- Guzheng. The rest parts of the elegant gathering including Tea Ceremony and Guqin music. Desserts will be served during the event.
Guzheng is a Chinese traditional plucked musical string instrument with over 2500 years of history. The early types of guzheng emerged during the Warring States period (475 to 221 BCE). The modern guzheng usually has 21 strings with a length of 64 inches.
The guzheng inspired several other Asian zither instruments, such as the Japanese koto, the Korean gayageum, and the Vietnamese đàn tranh. The guzheng should not be confused with the Guqin.

Ms. Wang began playing the guzheng at the age of ten under her father's instruction, and completed hertraining at Henan University and the Cao School of Guzheng Art. Ms Wang performs with the Henan Provincial Opera, as well as teaching guzheng. Shehas appeared with her students on Beijing's Central Television Station, in a frequently re-broadcast musical program. Ms. Wang has received numerous awards, and serves as a judge withthe Chinese National Evaluation Team for Pipe and String Music.

Pipa is one of the most popular Chinese musical instruments with a history of more than two thousand years.It is belongs to the plucked category of instruments with four strings, sometimes called the Chinese lute. Since its tonality changes a lot, it can present various themes, such as yearning for love, natural beauty and intense battle etc.

It keeps you awake, and it settles you down. If you feel hot, it cools you and if you are cold, it warms you. It makes you feel connected to the nature -- down to the earth, and far to the universe.

Zhou Yi is one of the best well-known pipa artist in the world. She is a rising-star and an extremely gifted virtuoso pipa performer. After graduating with a BFA in music from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Zhou Yi moved to New York and has been heard in various venues throughout the United States. She has performed in places such as Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, John Hancock Hall, Pickman Concert Hall and the Metropolitan Museum of Art etc.
Zhou Yi is a co-founder of the Ba Ban Chinese Music Society of New York. She also plays the Guqin, liuqin (high pitched lute), ruan (alto lute), sanxian (three stringed lute) as well as the western instrument – piano. Zhou Yi currently resides in New York City.

About the Guqin Melody: Flowing Water
In 1977, a recording of the Guqin melody Flowing Water《流水》, was chosen to be included in the Voyager Golden Record, a gold-plated LP recording containing music from around the world including Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Stravinsky etc. It was sent into outer space by NASA on the Voyager spacecraft, representing Chinese music.
In China, incense burning is a long established tradition to provide pleasant fragrances for rooms and clothing, to receive the divine wisdom, and to drive out evil spirits.
